Course Content
This web-based course is designed to educate and prepare
senior enlisted leaders (SELs) assigned to or slated to serve in a joint organization. The course is 40 hours in length
and uses interactive multimedia instruction (IMI): text, graphics, video, and audio. It provides the necessary
information required to improve a SELs performance as a member of a joint staff. The curriculum consists of five learning modules that cover four joint learning
areas (JLAs).
The four JLAs are:
LA 1 – National Military Capabilities and Organization
LA 2 – Armed Forces Overview
LA 3 – Foundations of Joint Operations
LA 4 – National Strategic Overview
Because it is offered via the internet, this course allows you the flexibility to access key concepts at times and
places when you need them most. Whether you are in need of critical information for a specific task or just a refresher
on the basics, this course covers a broad range of subject matter and is arranged into five distinct modules with
lessons and supporting topics.
The five modules are:
- Formulating and Integrating US National Strategy;
- Integrating Strategy, Resources and Contingency Planning;
- Deliberate and Crisis Action Planning;
- National Military Command Structure;
- Roles, Missions, History, Customs and Courtesies of the US Armed Forces.
