Scope:  This lesson presents information on the status of our strategic mobility assets and the importance played by USTRANSCOM in the planning for an execution of contingency operations today.  We will also discuss shortfall identification and resolution during this lesson.

Situation:  The first portion of this lesson will focus on the Defense transportation network, mobility assets and our ability to support current and projected contingency with a largely CONUS based armed forces.  To a large extent, the purpose of Contingency planning is to determine the transportation feasibility of our plans and the risks associated with the plan if  identified shortfalls are not resolved prior to execution.  This determination is made during Contingency planning.  We will discuss the Joint Flow and Analysis System for transportation (JFAST) and the capabilities of this application program and some of the products.
